The national tour officially launches with its first public performance on September 8, 2025, in Yakima, WA, followed by a major debut at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle beginning September 13. From there, the production moves through a sweeping roster of cities, including San Diego, Las Vegas, Tempe, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Providence, Hartford, Cleveland, Greenville, Nashville, Charlotte, Boston, Dayton, Minneapolis, Detroit, Des Moines, Lincoln, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Buffalo, Rochester, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and finally Fort Worth.
Shaina Taub’s musical brings suffrage history to life with a stirring combination of folk-pop–inflected score, witty book, and vivid ensemble staging. The touring production features refreshed direction, tour-adapted orchestrations, and live pit instrumentation, all carefully scaled to suit various venues while preserving the energy and message of the original Broadway staging. The storytelling is grounded in both the personal and political, following figures like Alice Paul, Ida B. Wells, and Carrie Chapman Catt as they confront internal tensions and external obstacles in the fight for voting rights.
The touring cast includes Maya Keleher as Alice Paul, Danyel Fulton as Ida B. Wells, Marya Grandy as Carrie Chapman Catt, Jenny Ashman as President Woodrow Wilson, Monica Tulia Ramirez as Inez Milholland, and additional ensemble members covering roles such as Lucy Burns and Mary Church Terrell. The creative team features direction by Leigh Silverman, choreography by Mayte Natalio, scenic design by Christine Peters, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, orchestrations by Michael Starobin, with music supervision by Andrea Grody — all headed by producers Jill Furman and Rachel Sussman.

About Suffs
Suffs is a musical written, composed, and performed by Shaina Taub that brings to vivid life the American women’s suffrage movement. Centered on figures like Alice Paul, Carrie Chapman Catt, Ida B. Wells, and Inez Milholland, it dramatizes their struggle leading up to the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, which granted (some) American women the right to vote in 1920. Its narrative unfolds through powerful songs and candid dialogue, exploring the personal sacrifices, strategic disagreements, and solidarity that defined the fight for equality.
The journey of Suffs began in 2022 with its debut Off-Broadway at The Public Theater, before moving to Broadway in 2024 at the Music Box Theatre, where it earned critical acclaim. The show received six Tony Award nominations and won for Best Book and Best Original Score — marking a historic moment, as Taub became the first solo woman in Broadway history to write the book, music, and lyrics of a musical and to star in it. Produced by luminaries including Hillary Clinton and Malala Yousafzai, the musical further solidified its cultural impact.
Critically, Suffs has been praised for its smart, tuneful scripting and emotionally stirring storytelling, offering “rich musical palette,” “thrilling and inspiring” moments, and a sharp focus on internal tensions within the movement — rather than simply casting external adversaries. Though some reviewers noted that the structure feels crowded and could benefit from tighter pacing, the musical’s energy and vivid portrayal of suffragist history resonate powerfully with modern audiences.
