ABOUT: Stomp is an internationally acclaimed performance group and show that turns everyday objects into instruments, blending percussion, movement, and visual comedy into one high-energy theatrical experience. Created in 1991 in Brighton, England, by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, Stomp began as a street performance and quickly grew into a global phenomenon.
The magic of Stomp lies in its ability to make rhythm from almost anything — brooms, garbage cans, matchboxes, hubcaps, plastic bags, kitchen sinks, and even the performers’ own bodies. The show is entirely wordless, relying on physical expression, precise timing, and creative choreography to connect with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Its universality has made it a hit in over 50 countries and across six continents.
Stomp ran for decades in New York City, with its Off-Broadway production becoming one of the longest-running shows in the city until it closed in January 2023. Along the way, it’s earned an Olivier Award for Best Choreography, an Obie Award, and multiple Drama Desk Awards. It’s also made appearances in TV commercials, award shows, and major events, further cementing its place in pop culture.
