ABOUT: Born on November 8, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, Rickie Lee Jones gained prominence with her self-titled debut album in 1979, which included the Grammy Award-winning hit “Chuck E.’s in Love.” Jones quickly became known for her distinctive voice, bohemian image, and genre-defying approach to songwriting. Her early work was embraced by both critics and audiences, and she followed her debut with the acclaimed album Pirates in 1981, further establishing her as a unique and influential voice in American music. Over her career, Jones has released numerous albums, exploring various musical landscapes and pushing artistic boundaries. Highlights include “Flying Cowboys” (1989), produced by Walter Becker of Steely Dan, and “The Sermon on Exposition Boulevard” (2007), which featured a more experimental sound.
