About Omaha Symphony
The Omaha Symphony has been a cornerstone of Nebraska’s cultural life since its founding in 1921. Over the course of more than a century, it has grown from a small community ensemble into a fully professional orchestra performing at the Holland Performing Arts Center, a venue renowned for its world-class acoustics and architectural design. The orchestra presents a broad range of concerts each year, from classical masterworks to pops, chamber performances, and family programs, making it one of the most versatile performing arts organizations in the region.
Beyond its mainstage concerts, the Omaha Symphony is deeply invested in education and community outreach. Each year it reaches tens of thousands of students across Nebraska and western Iowa through programs like the Symphony In Schools initiative, Young People’s Concerts, and interactive workshops. These programs introduce children to orchestral music at an early age while also providing performance opportunities for young musicians through ensembles and collaborations.
The orchestra’s mission is to enrich people’s lives through the power of live orchestral music, and it consistently works to engage diverse audiences. From collaborations with contemporary artists to multimedia performances that blend film and symphony, the Omaha Symphony continues to innovate while preserving the traditions of symphonic music. Its reputation for artistic excellence, community connection, and adaptability has solidified its place as a cultural leader both in Omaha and throughout the Midwest.
