This period also includes the annual Fall Fashion Gala, showcasing new work by Jamar Roberts and stunning costumes by Iris van Herpen.
The beloved holiday classic, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, returns to delight audiences from November 28, 2025, to January 4, 2026, featuring lavish sets, Karinska’s iconic costumes, and the immersive spectacle that has become a cherished annual tradition. A sensory‑friendly performance is scheduled for January 4 at 1 p.m., designed to welcome audience members with sensory sensitivities.
In winter 2026, the company presents Balanchine + Ratmansky, Masters at Work II, New Combinations, Contemporary Choreography II, The Sleeping Beauty, and Masters at Work III, showcasing both timeless works and modern voices.
The spring season, from April 21 to May 31, 2026, includes All Balanchine III, Innovators & Icons, Eclectic NYCB II & III, Contemporary Choreography III, the celebratory Spring Gala, All Bach, a second sensory‑friendly performance on May 17, and concludes with a staging of the beloved Coppélia.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Jonathan Stafford and Associate Artistic Director Wendy Whelan, NYCB’s 2025–26 season reflects its inspiring blend of innovation, heritage, and choreographic diversity — inviting dance lovers to both revisit masterpieces and discover boundary-pushing contemporary works.

ABOUT NEW YORK CITY BALLET: New York City Ballet (NYCB) is a world-renowned American ballet company, founded in 1948 by the visionary choreographer George Balanchine and arts patron Lincoln Kirstein, with Jerome Robbins joining as co-founder a year later — together crafting the company’s signature athletic, neoclassical style and forging its spectacular repertory.
NYCB serves as the resident company at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater (originally named the New York State Theater), where it performs for much of the year. Since 1966, summer residencies at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center have extended its reach beyond Manhattan. The company is made up of roughly 90 dancers and maintains an active repertory exceeding 150 works, with a strong emphasis on masterpieces by Balanchine and Robbins as well as choreographies by modern trailblazers like Justin Peck and Alexei Ratmansky.
Together with its official school — the School of American Ballet — NYCB embodies a dual mission: preserving the legacy of American ballet while fostering innovation. Enlightened leadership continues to evolve the company’s artistic vision, supported by strong education programs and community engagement. Over its history, NYCB has not only defined a style but also elevated ballet’s presence globally and cultivated generations of dancers worldwide.
