About Leonid & Friends
Leonid & Friends is a Russian-American tribute band best known for its remarkably precise and energetic covers of classic rock, jazz-rock, and horn-driven songs — especially those by the band Chicago. Founded by multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer Leonid Vorobyev in Moscow, the group originally began as a studio project in 2014, when Vorobyev recorded a cover of Chicago’s “Brand New Love Affair” purely out of admiration for the band’s music. What started as a passion project quickly grew into a global sensation after their videos gained viral attention on YouTube.
The band’s standout quality lies in its near-flawless recreations of complex arrangements, tight horn sections, and rich vocal harmonies — all executed with deep musicality and respect for the original material. Leonid & Friends has since expanded its repertoire beyond Chicago to include tributes to Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan, Tower of Power, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and other influential artists from the golden era of American rock and funk.
Despite originating far from the genres’ birthplace, the band has earned widespread acclaim from fans and musicians alike, including praise from members of Chicago themselves. With a lineup of virtuoso musicians and vocalists from both Russia and the U.S., Leonid & Friends has built a devoted international following through social media, albums, and extensive touring.
Their performances are more than tribute — they’re a celebration of musical craftsmanship, precision, and joy, honoring the sound of a generation while making it feel fresh and alive for new audiences.
