ABOUT: Garbage, an American alternative rock band formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1993, consists of Scottish lead singer Shirley Manson and American musicians Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig. Vig is best known for producing Nirvana’s seminal album Nevermind.

The band quickly gained attention with their self-titled debut album released in 1995, which included hits likeStupid GirlandOnly Happy When It Rains. Their music is characterized by a fusion of alternative rock, electronic, and industrial elements.

Garbage’s sound stood out during the mid-’90s alternative rock boom, combining gritty guitars with electronic beats and introspective lyrics. The band’s sleek production and Manson’s distinctive voice and edgy persona garnered them critical and commercial success.

Garbage followed up with several albums, including Version 2.0 (1998), Beautiful Garbage (2001), and Bleed Like Me (2005). After a hiatus, they returned with Not Your Kind of People (2012), Strange Little Birds (2016), and No Gods No Masters (2021).
