Early in the new year, Beethoven’s Seventh is set for January 17, and in February the beloved tradition Gospel Meets Symphony returns on February 7.
Spring brings more masterworks: Mozart & Vivaldi are featured on March 7, followed by Appalachian Spring with Copland in April. The season concludes in May with a powerful performance of Carmina Burana on May 9, bringing together orchestra and chorus for one of the repertoire’s most dramatic climaxes. Across the season, audiences will experience sweeping orchestral scores, choral favorites, and crossover programs showcasing both breadth and depth of orchestral music.

About Akron Symphony Orchestra
The Akron Symphony Orchestra (ASO) has been a cornerstone of the cultural life of Northeast Ohio since its founding in 1949. Based in Akron and performing primarily at E.J. Thomas Hall, the orchestra is recognized for its ability to present both cornerstone classical repertoire and bold, innovative programs. With a tradition of artistic excellence, the ASO has earned a reputation for its dynamic performances, collaborations with guest soloists, and commitment to making live orchestral music accessible to its community.
In addition to its mainstage concerts, the ASO places a strong emphasis on education and outreach. The Akron Youth Symphony, Akron Youth Philharmonic, and Akron Youth Chamber Ensemble nurture the region’s young musicians, offering them opportunities to rehearse and perform at a high level. Programs such as Concerts for Kids and the Orchestra Outreach Initiative bring the power of live symphonic music to schools, churches, and community spaces, ensuring that people of all ages and backgrounds can experience orchestral music.
The orchestra’s mission extends beyond the concert hall to celebrate and strengthen the cultural fabric of the region. By embracing both traditional masterworks and contemporary voices, and by hosting signature events such as Gospel Meets Symphony, the ASO fosters inclusivity and artistic growth. This combination of high artistic standards, community involvement, and innovative programming has established the Akron Symphony as one of Ohio’s most valued musical institutions.
