ABOUT WINNIPEG JETS: The Winnipeg Jets are a professional ice hockey team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as part of the Central Division in the Western Conference. The current Jets franchise was established in 2011, when the Atlanta Thrashers were relocated to Winnipeg by True North Sports & Entertainment. This marked the return of NHL hockey to the city after the original Jets team relocated to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Coyotes.
The team plays its home games at Canada Life Centre, located in downtown Winnipeg. Known for its loud, passionate fanbase and “Whiteout” playoff tradition, Winnipeg has one of the most intense home atmospheres in the league. Since their re-establishment, the Jets have built a reputation as a competitive, hard-working team, with key players over the years including Mark Scheifele, Connor Hellebuyck, Kyle Connor, and Josh Morrissey.
Off the ice, the Jets are active in the local community through charitable initiatives and youth hockey programs. While they have yet to win a Stanley Cup in their current form, they have consistently been playoff contenders and remain one of the most supported teams in Canadian professional sports. The franchise combines a strong sense of local pride with a commitment to growing the game across Manitoba and the Prairie provinces.
