Event Details
SEASON PREVIEW: The Seattle Kraken enter their fifth NHL season under new head coach Lane Lambert, who was named to replace Dan Bylsma in late May 2025, as the organization seeks a fresh approach after missing the playoffs for the second straight year under previous regimes. General manager Jason Botterill continues to steer the rebuild, bringing in veteran forward Matt Murray on a one-year deal and bolstering the defense with Ryan Lindgren from Colorado as part of an offseason emphasis on experience and stability. With cornerstone pieces like Jordan Eberle serving as captain and Matty Beniers as alternate captain alongside Adam Larsson and Jaden Schwartz, the Kraken aim to integrate emerging youngsters like Berkly Catton and Kim Saarinen into a more competitive mix. Expect this season to be a transitional effort focused on defensive reliability, deepening depth, and building consistency under Lambert’s structure as the team pushes to regain momentum in the Pacific Division.

ABOUT SEATTLE KRAKEN: The Seattle Kraken are a professional ice hockey team based in Seattle, Washington. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference. The team was officially announced as the NHL’s 32nd franchise in 2018 and began play in the 2021–22 season. Their name, “Kraken,” comes from a mythical sea creature, reflecting Seattle’s maritime culture and the city’s deep connection to the ocean.
The Kraken play their home games at Climate Pledge Arena, a state-of-the-art venue located at Seattle Center. The arena was built with a strong focus on sustainability, aiming to be the first net zero carbon-certified arena in the world. The team’s colors — deep sea blue, ice blue, boundless blue, shadow blue, and red alert — evoke the sea and the mystery of the deep, tying in with the Kraken theme.
Seattle’s entry into the NHL brought hockey back to the Pacific Northwest, filling a void left since the departure of the WHL’s Seattle Metropolitans, who were the first American team to win the Stanley Cup in 1917. The Kraken quickly established a strong fan base, known for their passionate support and the signature foghorn that blasts after each home goal. The franchise is also known for its commitment to community engagement, diversity, and sustainability both on and off the ice.
