ABOUT PHILADELPHIA FLYERS: The Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were founded in 1967 as part of the NHL’s first wave of expansion beyond the Original Six teams. The Flyers play their home games at the Wells Fargo Center and are part of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference. Known for their aggressive, hard-hitting style of play — especially during their “Broad Street Bullies” era in the 1970s — the Flyers quickly became one of the league’s most iconic and polarizing teams.
The franchise won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975, led by legendary players like Bobby Clarke and Bernie Parent. Since then, they’ve made multiple trips to the Finals, most recently in 2010, but have yet to reclaim the Cup. Over the decades, the Flyers have developed a reputation for passionate fans, intense rivalries (especially with the Penguins and Rangers), and an unwavering commitment to compete.
In recent years, the team has undergone a rebuilding phase, focusing on youth development and front-office changes aimed at long-term success. With a new generation of players emerging and a fan base eager for a return to contention, the Flyers remain one of the NHL’s most storied and resilient franchises.
