All Things Equal – The Life and Trials of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is returning to stages across the United States in 2027 with a new 23-city national tour. Written by Tony Award-winning playwright Rupert Holmes, directed by Laley Lippard and produced by Scott Stander, the acclaimed one-woman production stars Michelle Azar, who originated the role of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The approximately 90-minute play offers an intimate, frequently humorous look at Ginsburg’s life, tracing the personal experiences and legal battles that shaped her career.

The 2027 tour begins January 15 in Providence, Rhode Island, before visiting Hartford, Columbus, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Madison, Chicago, East Lansing, Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids. The production continues through Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Raleigh, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas before heading into its spring run with performances in Ithaca, Washington, D.C., Portland, New Haven, Denver and Albuquerque. The announced national tour concludes April 10 at Seattle’s Moore Theatre, extending a production that has already visited more than 40 cities nationwide.

Through a conversation staged inside Ginsburg’s chambers, the production revisits episodes including the death of her mother shortly before her high-school graduation, her experience as one of nine women studying law at Harvard, raising a daughter while her husband battled cancer, her litigation for gender equality during the 1970s and her later years on the U.S. Supreme Court. Rather than presenting a conventional historical lecture, All Things Equal uses storytelling, humor and personal reflection to dramatize Ginsburg’s life, relationships, legal career and views on equality and American institutions.
