ABOUT: The Steve Miller Band was founded by guitarist and vocalist Steve Miller, a blues-influenced musician who would go on to become one of the most successful American rock artists of the 1970s and beyond. Known for their mix of blues, psychedelic rock, and classic rock, the band achieved commercial success with a series of hit albums and singles throughout the 1970s and early 1980s.

The band’s debut album, Children of the Future (1968), reflected the psychedelic sound of the era. It was followed by several more albums in the late ’60s and early ’70s, including Sailor (1968) and Brave New World (1969), which featured collaborations with artists like Paul McCartney.

The Steve Miller Band reached its peak commercial success with the release of The Joker (1973), which featured the chart-topping title track. The band’s popularity soared further with the albums Fly Like an Eagle (1976) and Book of Dreams (1977), which produced enduring hits such as “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Jet Airliner,” and “Fly Like an Eagle.”

In the 1980s, the band continued to release successful music, including the album Abracadabra (1982), whose title track became another number-one hit. While the group’s commercial output slowed in later decades, Steve Miller continued to tour and perform, keeping the band relevant through live performances and compilations.
