ABOUT: Brightman gained early fame as a member of the dance troupe Hot Gossip and through her hit disco single “I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper” in 1978. Her career took a significant turn when she met composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, whom she later married.
She starred in several of his musicals, most notably originating the role of Christine Daaé in the world-renowned musical The Phantom of the Opera in 1986. Following her stage success, Brightman embarked on a solo career, becoming one of the world’s best-selling sopranos. Her albums, including Dive (1993), Timeless (1997), and La Luna (2000), showcase her distinctive fusion of operatic vocals with contemporary music. Her 2008 album Symphony reached the top of classical charts internationally.
In addition to her music career, Brightman has pursued various philanthropic efforts and was named UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2012. She has also expressed a strong interest in space travel and was once a space tourist candidate for a mission to the International Space Station.
