ABOUT: Purity Ring is a Canadian electronic pop duo formed in 2010, consisting of vocalist Megan James and producer/instrumentalist Corin Roddick. Known for their ethereal sound that blends synth-pop, dream pop, and hip-hop-inspired beats, the group rose to prominence with their debut album Shrines in 2012. The album received widespread critical acclaim and established Purity Ring as a key player in the electronic and indie pop scenes.

Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, the duo developed a distinctive musical style characterized by haunting lyrics, atmospheric production, and James’s delicate, often digitally manipulated vocals. Their visual aesthetic, featuring futuristic fashion, surreal stage designs, and custom-built light installations, has also become a signature element of their identity.

Following Shrines, Purity Ring released Another Eternity (2015), showcasing a more polished and accessible sound while maintaining their core identity. In 2020, they released their third album, WOMB, which continued to explore themes of vulnerability, intimacy, and transformation through lush production and introspective songwriting.

Throughout their career, Purity Ring has collaborated with artists such as Danny Brown and Jon Hopkins, and their influence can be heard in the works of numerous acts within the synth-pop and experimental electronic genres. The duo remains known for pushing creative boundaries while crafting emotionally resonant music that captivates both critics and fans alike.
