Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra 2025-26 Season Info

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) proudly presents its 129th season, spanning from September 20, 2025, to June 21, 2026, under the esteemed leadership of Music Director Manfred Honeck. In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the season explores how orchestral music can reflect national identity — bridging tradition and modern expression while amplifying voices from across the cultural spectrum. The season will also feature a return to Carnegie Hall in December 2025.

The season opens on September 20, spotlighting superstar pianist Yuja Wang in the Opening Night Gala under Manfred Honeck’s direction — a fitting start to a season focused on the American story. This period also kicks off 20 weekends of BNY Classics, spotlighting a mix of celebrated masterpieces and new works, all as part of the orchestra’s exploration of American identity in the wake of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

In October and November, the concert hall comes alive with standout pops and crossover performances. The PNC Pops series includes Come Swing With Me (October 3–5), Bugs Bunny at the Symphony (October 31–November 2), a show by Ben Folds (October 7), and festive film concerts like The Nightmare Before Christmas (October 25–26) and Elf in Concert (November 21 & 23). These family-friendly experiences blend animation, popular music, and seasonal cheer.

December ushers in the holiday season with the Highmark Holiday Pops, offering festive melodies and sensory-friendly performances at Heinz Hall. Mid-month concerts feature choir-backed favorites and sing-alongs designed for audiences of all ages, creating a joyful and inclusive celebration.

In January, musical theater meets symphony with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific in Concert (January 30–February 1), a collaboration with Pittsburgh CLO and Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama that brings beloved Broadway scores to the orchestral stage.

February and March bring patriotic programming, jazzy flair, and celebrated classics. America the Beautiful (February 27–March 1) reflects on the nation’s heritage through a musical journey from gospel spirituals to blues. Then in April, audiences can unwind with Tropical Rock: For 5 O’Clock… Somewhere — a breezy escape into island rhythms and beach-themed favorites.

June brings a dance-driven finale with Disco Divas (June 5–7), a high-voltage tribute to icons like Donna Summer and Diana Ross featuring hits from Michael Jackson and Earth, Wind & Fire.

This season also includes a major appearance at Carnegie Hall in December 2025, expanding the orchestra’s reach to national audiences.
