Event Details
The Pittsburgh Pirates are set to begin the 2026 Major League Baseball season, marking the franchise’s 145th season overall, 140th season in the National League and 26th season playing at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The club enters the new campaign aiming to improve after finishing the 2025 season with a 71–91 record and last place in the National League Central, which extended the team’s postseason drought that dates back to 2015.
The 2026 season will also represent a new chapter under manager Don Kelly, who took over the role during the 2025 season and now begins his first full year leading the team. Pittsburgh hopes to build momentum with a mix of established talent and emerging young players, including star pitcher Paul Skenes and highly regarded prospects expected to contribute during the season. With offseason roster additions and promising young talent in the organization, the Pirates are looking to become more competitive in the NL Central and take steps toward returning to postseason contention.
