ABOUT: Papa Roach is an American rock band from Vacaville, California, best known for their high-energy blend of alternative metal, hard rock, and rap-infused nu-metal. Formed in 1993 by vocalist Jacoby Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, bassist Tobin Esperance, and drummer Dave Buckner (later replaced by Tony Palermo), the band first built a following in the California rock scene before breaking into the mainstream with their major-label debut, Infest (2000). That album, driven by the explosive single “Last Resort,” became a defining release of the early 2000s nu-metal era, going triple-platinum and cementing Papa Roach’s place in rock history.
Over the years, the band evolved beyond their nu-metal roots, incorporating elements of hard rock, alternative, and even pop-punk into their sound on albums like Lovehatetragedy (2002), Getting Away with Murder (2004), The Paramour Sessions (2006), and Metamorphosis (2009). Later releases such as F.E.A.R. (2015), Crooked Teeth (2017), and Ego Trip (2022) continued to showcase their knack for hook-driven anthems and intense live energy while keeping their sound fresh.
Papa Roach is widely respected for their longevity, adaptability, and commitment to live performance, often headlining tours and sharing stages with acts like Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, The Used, and Rise Against. Their shows are known for Shaddix’s relentless stage presence, crowd interaction, and a setlist that spans both nostalgic hits and newer fan favorites. After more than three decades together, the band remains a staple of modern rock, still packing arenas and festivals worldwide.
