ABOUT: Kublai Khan TX is an American metalcore/hardcore band from Sherman, Texas, known for their raw heaviness, blunt lyricism, and unrelenting live energy. Formed in 2009, the group has built a reputation in the heavy music scene for delivering crushing riffs, bone-shaking breakdowns, and socially conscious lyrics that tackle issues like racism, poverty, mental health, and personal struggle. The “TX” in their name emphasizes their Texas roots, a point of pride that’s reflected in both their attitude and sound.
Fronted by Matt Honeycutt (vocals) alongside Nolan Ashley (guitar), Eric English (bass), and Isaac Lamb (drums), Kublai Khan TX emerged with their debut album Balancing Survival and Happiness (2014), followed by the hard-hitting New Strength (2015). Their third record, Nomad (2017), earned widespread praise in the hardcore community for its stripped-down aggression and honesty. With Absolute (2019) and Lowest Form of Animal (2022), the band pushed their sound even further — mixing groove, metallic hardcore intensity, and confrontational, no-filter vocals.
Known for their ferocious live shows, Kublai Khan TX thrives on connection with their audience, often encouraging crowd participation and fostering a sense of unity despite the chaos of their music. Over the years, they’ve toured with some of the biggest names in heavy music and have steadily grown a loyal fan base, solidifying themselves as one of the most respected forces in modern hardcore.
