ABOUT: Heart’s breakthrough came with their debut album, Dreamboat Annie (1975), which featured the hits “Magic Man” and “Crazy on You.” Their signature sound combined Ann’s soaring vocals with Nancy’s skilled acoustic and electric guitar work.
Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, Heart continued to release successful albums such as Little Queen, Dog & Butterfly, and Bébé le Strange, cementing their reputation as one of rock’s most enduring acts. After a brief decline in the early 1980s, the band experienced a major resurgence with their self-titled album Heart (1985), which included chart-topping hits like “What About Love,” “These Dreams,” and “Alone.” This era showcased a more polished, radio-friendly sound, earning the band a new generation of fans. Over the decades, Heart has sold over 35 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
Despite lineup changes and brief hiatuses, Ann and Nancy Wilson have remained the heart of Heart, continuing to tour and inspire generations of musicians. Heart’s legacy is defined not only by their commercial success and critical acclaim but also by their groundbreaking role as women leading a major rock band.
