Death Becomes Her is a stage musical adaptation of the 1992 cult-classic film of the same name, which starred Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis. The musical features a book by Marco Pennette and an original score by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey, bringing the dark comedy’s tale of vanity, rivalry and immortality to the stage. Like the film, the story follows two longtime rivals who drink a mysterious potion promising eternal youth, only to discover that everlasting life comes with outrageous and unexpected consequences.

The musical had its world premiere in Chicago in 2023 before transferring to Broadway, where it opened at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, the production is known for its high-energy musical numbers, elaborate costumes and over-the-top theatrical effects that recreate the film’s iconic moments in a live setting. The Broadway cast has included Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard as the feuding frenemies, with Christopher Sieber portraying the long-suffering Ernest.
