ABOUT: Charlie Wilson is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the lead vocalist of the legendary funk band The Gap Band. Born on January 29, 1953, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wilson rose to fame in the late 1970s and 1980s with hits like “Outstanding,” “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” and “Yearning for Your Love.”
After The Gap Band’s peak years, Wilson launched a successful solo career in the 2000s, gaining renewed popularity with a series of chart-topping albums and singles.
Known for his smooth voice and energetic performances, he collaborated with artists such as Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, and Justin Timberlake. His solo hits include “There Goes My Baby,” “Charlie, Last Name Wilson,” and “You Are.”
