ABOUT: Band of Skulls is a British rock band known for their gritty, blues-infused sound and high-energy live performances. Formed in Southampton, England in 2008, the band originally started as a college project between Russell Marsden (guitar/vocals), Emma Richardson (bass/vocals), and Matt Hayward (drums). They quickly gained attention with their raw, riff-heavy debut album Baby Darling Doll Face Honey in 2009.
Their music blends blues-rock, garage, and hard rock, marked by heavy guitar tones, dual vocals, and a no-frills attitude. Songs like “Death by Diamonds and Pearls,” “I Know What I Am,” and “Sweet Sour” helped define their early sound and earned them a strong fan base on both sides of the Atlantic.
Over the years, Band of Skulls has released several albums, including Sweet Sour (2012), Himalayan (2014), By Default (2016), and Love Is All You Love (2019), each showing their evolution from raw rock into more experimental territory without losing their edge. They’ve toured globally, playing major festivals and earning a reputation for their tight, intense live shows.
